Bloomington Man Sentenced To 315 Years For Child Porn

Last updated on Wednesday, November 23, 2011

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A judge has sentenced a Bloomington man to 315 years in federal prison for producing and distributing worldwide pornographic images of children under the age of four in a case described as one of the largest of its kind in state history.

U.S. District Court Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson sentenced 25-year-old David Bostic on Tuesday. Bostic has been held for a year and pleaded guilty to 65 criminal counts in June.

Authorities say Bostic produced sexually explicit images of a 4-year-old boy and four girls between the ages of 2 months and 3 years. The images were distributed via email to others as far away as Serbia and Sweden.

According to investigators, Bostic and 19 others were part of an international network of people who swapped photographs and videos of young children posed in explicit sexual situations. Bostic's youngest victim was 2 months old.

Bostic received 60 years behind bars for international pornography trafficking and 255 years producing the pornography. He faced a possible sentence of 1,730 years had he been convicted on everything he was charged with.

Five other Indiana residents face charges in the case, as do suspects in South Carolina and Pennsylvania,

Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer says Bostic was one of the most dangerous offenders ever prosecuted by his office. "No prison term can undo the pain and suffering" that Bostic caused.

"He memorialized these unspeakable crimes by producing photographs of his abuse and distributing them to an international network of child predators," says Breuer. "But the sentence sends a strong message that child sexual exploitation will be punished severely."
