(GREENE COUNTY) - Two people riding a mini-bike were hospitalized early Wednesday morning after being hit by a car at the intersection of State Road 445 and State Road 54 in eastern Greene County.
25-year-old James Ells, of Boston, Mass., was traveling west on State Road 445 and pulled into the path of a 2009 Honda mini-bike, driven by 40-year-old Gary Denny, of Bloomfield, as he was attempting to make a left turn, according to a report filed by Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Lt. Bryan Woodall.
A witness told police that Ells did not stop before starting his turn. Ells was cited for no proof of insurance.
Denny, and a passenger, 21 year-old Melinda Schlosser, were injured. Denny was transported by Air-Evac medical helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment of a possible broken leg and complaints of pain to the back and neck. Schlosser was taken by Greene County Ambulance to IU Health Bloomington for treatment.
Police say both mini-bike riders were wearing helmets.
Also assisting at the scene was personnel from the Greene County Sheriff's Department, Center Township Fire, and Rescue and Monroe Hospital.
