(JASONVILLE) - A traffic stop for failure to activate a turn signal, resulted in the arrest of a passenger in the vehicle. 23-year-old William Kolling, of Lyons, was charged with possession of more than 10 grams of methamphetamine precursors.
Kolling was arrested on Oct. 9, around 12:30 a.m., when Jasonville Police Officer Ryan VanHorn say Edward Cox fail to use his turn signal at the intersection of Sycamore and Railroad Streets in Jasonville.
Cox was given a ticket and gave police consent to search his car. Police found the makings of a methamphetamine lab in the trunk. Kolling told police the items were his. The car belonged to Kolling, but he didn't want to drive because he had been drinking, according to court records. Kolling told police he was making meth because he needed money.
Kolling was released from jail after posting $4,000 bond on Oct. 10.
During his initial hearing this week, Circuit Judge Erik Allen appointed James Reister as Kolling's public defender.
A pre-trial date of Feb. 1, 2012 was set.
A trial by jury is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Feb. 12, 2012.
The driver, Cox and another passenger Luke Hutherson, told police they didn't know the items were in the trunk and have not been charged in the case.
