Three Hurt In Accidents Saturday

Last updated on Monday, October 24, 2011

(UNDATED) - Lawrence County Police officers investigated two accidents on Saturday.

The first accident happened 10:54 a.m.on Rivervale Road, when deer ran into the pathway of a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Amanda Lane, of Mitchell.

Lane complained of head pain.

Lawrence County Police Officer Jordan Wheelock says, Lane was traveling south on Rivervale Road when three deer ran into the path of her 2002 Pontiac. She swerved to miss the deer and ran off the west side of the road and hit a fence.

The second accident happened 2:12 p.m. on Bedford Road, in Springville.

28-year-old Michael Parsley, of Bedford, had minor bleeding to his head and his passenger, 24-year-old Kayla Novak, had minor bleeding to her face. They were both taken to IU Health Bedford where they were treated and released.

According to Lawrence County Police Sgt. Steve Stafford, Parsley was traveling east on Bedford Street, when the 1995 Jeep that he was driving went off the east side of the road, hit a tree and rolled once.

Parsley left more than 83 feet of skid marks on the roadway. Novak told police they had tire problems and that is what caused Parsley to lose control of the Jeep.

Parsley was arrested and charged with being a habitual traffic violator for life and taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
