(LINTON) - Police are looking for Darryl W. Moore, of Route 3 Linton. He is wanted on a warrant for allegedly battery and strangling his estranged wife.
According to a probably cause affidavit filed in Greene Superior Court, Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Leon Dunigan met with the victim on Aug. 24 at Greene County General Hospital, where she was being treated for injuries she suffered during a fight with Moore.
Moore began hitting the woman while they were at Reservoir 26 (Goodman Lake) in the Greene-Sullivan State Forest and also while in a vehicle that was traveling on County Road 1600W.
The victim alleged that she had gone to the Moore residence to pick up some of her belongings. Moore told his wife that he would give her $20 to take him to Worthington to pick up his daughter.
On the way, he asked if the couple could go somewhere and talk about why she had filed for divorce. They went to the lake and the victim says Moore, whom she said had been drinking, started to get angry and yelled at her. He allegedly hit her and choked her around the neck until she lost consciousness, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The woman say when she woke up, she told Moore that she needed to pick up her children at school and started driving on County Road 1600W. The victim says she saw a UPS truck and got out and told the driver to call police.
Moore allegedly then yelled at her and grabbed her hair and pulled her backward toward the car.
"Moore told the UPS truck driver that if he called the cops, he would beat (his wife) more," Deputy Dunigan wrote in his affidavit.
The victim said Moore then threw her into the passenger side of the car and drove off.
"At some point Moore ran off the road and hit a mailbox post and busted the passenger side windshield," Dunigan wrote.
The woman then allegedly dropped Moore off at a residence on Bolton Road. She then drove to the Linton Police Station to report what happened.
Dunigan said the woman had pain in her head and left shoulder, her right wrist was swollen, and she had knots on her forehead, and red marks on her neck.
The UPS driver later identified a photograph of Moore as the person he saw grab the woman's hair.
