Jury Selection Begins Today In Child Molesting Case

(BEDFORD) - Jury selection begins this morning in Lawrence County Superior Court II in the child molesting case of Merle Moore.

Moore is accused of molesting a then 12-year-old girl.

The girl called 911 on July 27, 2010 to report Moore had touched her under her shirt and down her pants.

Moore refused to let the girl answer the door when police arrived. Moore finally answered the door. The girl told police Moore tried to convince her that the touching was an accident and it would not happen again.

Moore is charged with two counts of child molesting, both Class A felonies. He is being represented by public defender John Plummer Jr. Deputy Prosecutor Tim Sledd will be presenting the case for the state.
