(BLOOMINGTON via AP) - Cases involving gay and lesbian students led the discrimination complaints Indiana University officials say they received between July 2010 and June 2011.
Four incident teams reviewed reports of 124 acts of discrimination over the 12-month span.
The reports included 51 reviewed by the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Incidents Team, 33 reviewed by a team focused on racial incidents, 24 involving religious bias and 16 sent to the Gender Incidents Team.
More than 60% of the reports stemmed from actions in IU's residence halls. Associate Dean of Students Carol McCord says that means residence assistants are better reporting cases there.
A dozen of the cases were referred to the campus judicial system.
