(WASHINGTON) - “The Hypnotist Spectacular” will entertain an audience of all ages at Washington High School on Thursday night, following an afternoon convocation for high school students, with some local people having the opportunity to be hypnotized at both shows.
The shows will feature William Mitchell, founder of Mitchell Institute for Professional Hypnosis and Personal Motivational Hypnosis Centers. The show is a community service project to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The show was organized by DECA members Mikala Barber, Madison Heacock and Abby McCormick.
Members say the show doesn't have a mystical overtone. According to a website for the agency representing Mitchell, the shows are safe and age-appropriate, and at no time will anyone purposely be embarrassed.
During the daytime convocation, Mitchell will make a drug and alcohol presentation and work in some hypnotism.
The evening performance will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in the WHS auditorium. It's expected to last about 90 minutes. Tickets are $10 at the door. The first 20 people to pay an additional $10 will be hypnotized.
