(BEDFORD) - An early-afternoon fire Saturday caused extensive damage to a home in the 2300 block of 30th Street, according to Bedford Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Haverly.

Firefighters arrived at the home at 12:48 p.m. Saturday to heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. Justin and Bobbi Hunter, who rent the home were not there.

The home is owned by Carla Taylor, a relative of the Hunters.

Haverly said there was heavy damage to the back of the home and smoke damage throughout the home.

Firefighters were at the home for about two hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
