Dogs Recovering After Being Shot

(AVOCA) - The dogs that were shot in the head Monday afternoon are doing better and could go home soon, according to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Mike Branham.

The dogs owned by Curtis Hackler are up and moving and eating, Branham says.
Detective Jim Slone is following up on leads on who shot the dogs in their pen at 8 Teddy Bird Lane.

The shooting was reported Monday afternoon, when Hackler returned to the home he will remodeling and found his beagle dead and two other dogs injured.

The dogs were shot in the head with a small-caliber firearm, Branham said. The surviving dogs are being treated at the Bedford Veterinarian Clinic on Mitchell Road.

Police are looking for any information on this case. If anyone saw anything they are asked to call the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department.
