Debris Being Removed At George's Gateway To Assist With Investigation

Last updated on Friday, October 28, 2011

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Fire Department is getting extra help trying to determine what caused the fire at George’s Gateway.

Crew are expected to come in with heavy equipment to move some of the debris in the west end of the building so BFD Investigator David Wright and Deputy State Fire Marshal Matt Wells can get a better look at the where the fire started. The west end of the building was home to a small engine shop.

Sometime next week the building will be turned over to owner Tom Bertolino. It is currently unclear if he plans on rebuilding the store. Tom bought the store from George Brinegar, who opened it in 1958.

Bertolino worked for George while he attended high school and has owned it for the last 16 years.
