(WASHINGTON) (AP) - A Daviess County sheriff’s deputy has been indicted on charges he helped a woman avoid drug arrests in exchange for sex.
A grand jury indicted Daviess County Chief Deputy Ronald Morgan Friday on charges of bribery and assisting a criminal. If convicted, he could face 2-8 years in prison.
The 47-year-old Washington man was arrested Friday after surrendering at the Daviess County Jail and was released on $750 bond. He didn't return a phone message seeking comment.
State police say investigators learned that a 29-year-old Washington woman arrested last month on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine allegedly had avoided past arrest by receiving tips from Morgan in exchange for sex.
