Columbus Man Accused Of Murder Appears In Court

(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend to death faces 45 to 65 years in prison if convicted of murder.

50-year-old Gary Joseph Brown of Greensburg died of a gun shot wound to the abdomen.

46-year-old Clifton H. Cook Sr., of Columbus, appeared for an initial hearing Friday in Bartholomew Circuit Court after being transported here from Miami.

He pleaded not guilty. His jury trial is scheduled for Feb. 21 at 8:30 a.m.

Cook has hired attorney Rod McGillivray to represent him.
