Last updated on Thursday, October 27, 2011

(BROWNSTOWN) - The Brownstown Police Department hired a new officer.

Mitch Ray, a Brownstown native, has long been a reserve officer with the department. The association helped him stand out among the other four people interviewed for the position.

Ray is currently employed with the Jackson County Jail, as a jailer. He will have to attend the police academy in January 2012.

Ray is replacing Officer John Long who resigned in August.
