Last updated on Friday, October 14, 2011

(LYONS) - Lyons Boy Scout Troop 407 will host a fun event in the park, geared towards helping the Lyons Community Food Pantry.

The Trunk or Treat food drive will be in the Lyons Park from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and organizers will be offering a free pumpkin in exchange for non-perishable food items, according to the Boy Scouts Troop Committee Chair Judy Mullis.

The troop had 85 pumpkins donated, which will be handed out to families that offer canned and boxed goods for the pantry.

Children in costumes will receive goodies. The park will be decorated, including a witch's cauldron and other items.

If the weather is bad the event will be moved to the Lyons Community Building.

"This is a food drive, and we would like to bring the community together for Halloween," Mullis said. "Everybody please come and bring your canned and boxed foods so we Community Building."
