Bloomington) - The family of Lauren Spierer has written a letter to the persons who took her.
The letter was posted Saturday on NewsonLauren blog.
Lauren, 20, has been missing since June 3. She was last seen at the intersection of 11th Street and College Avenue, walking toward her Smallwood Plaza apartment after a night at Kilroy's Sports bar.
"You know where she is. You are guilty of a heinous crime, Charlene Spierer wrote. "If you think for a minute her father and I are going to disappear, think again. You have no idea who you have taken from us.
There is no reason to think the people Lauren was last with, wouldn't do everything in their power to help us find her. But, alas, there is deafening silence. "
Police and volunteers searched all summer and continue to look for Lauren, but have turned up no results. The most recent search was at the Vigo county landfill, where Bloomington trash is dumped.
Police have identified no suspects and Lauren's disappearance remains a mystery.
The Spierer family has not given up hope, but they have packed Lauren's belonging and shipped them to their New York home. Charlene said it was excruciating to have to do the task. The Spierer family has rented an apartment in Bloomington and are not going to return to their home in New York until Lauren's case is solved. The family believes some of Lauren's friends and persons of interest are "hiding in plain sight" on the IU campus and are refusing to help.
On Sept. 22, the family will host a concert featuring two live bands on the main lawn of the IU campus.
"We constantly try to come up with ways to keep Lauren's disappearance in front of everyone's mind," Charlene said.
Charlene and Robert released a public service announcement video on YouTube giving contact information for the Bloomington Police Department, 339-4477; the anonymous tips mailing address, Find Lauren, P.O. Box 1226, Bloomington, Ind. 47402-1226; the help find
