Orleans Women Arrested After Causing Accident

(ORLEANS) - An Orleans woman was arrested for drunk driving when she crashed her car into another vehicle.

Rachael R. Martin, 39, had a blood alcohol content of .15 percent following the accident, according to police reports.

The accident happened at 4:23p.m.Wednesday on Ind. 37 in front of Lost River Liquors in Orleans.

According to police reports Carrie A. Phillips, 18, Of Orleans, was traveling south on Ind. 37 in a 2008 Chevrolet when Martin, who was driving a 2000 Nissan, attempted to pull onto Ind. 37 from the parking lot of Lost River Liquors. Phillips told police she the car pull out of the lot, but was unable to stop.

When police arrived at the scene they detected the odor of alcohol when speaking to Martin.

She was taken to IU Health Paoli Hospital for a wrist injury and given a blood-alcohol test. The blood test revealed Martin had a blood-alcohol content of .20 percent, police said.

After being treated for her injury, she was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
