Heat Advisory Issued

Last updated on Friday, September 2, 2011

(UNDATED) - The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a heat advisory for Southern Indiana from noon to 7 p.m. Friday.

The agency predicts that high pressure will build across the Ohio Valley on Friday, allowing for little cloud cover and hot, humid conditions. Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s Friday afternoon and the heat index will reach 100 to 103 degrees.

To avoid heat-related illnesses, the National Weather Service is urging people who work or spend time outside to reschedule strenuous activity to the early morning or evening. People should wear light weight and loose-fitting clothing and drink plenty of water.
