(BLOOMFIELD) - The former Greene County General Hospital chaplain and co-owner of a Switz City daycare center was sentenced Tuesday to serve 1.5 years with the Indiana Department of Corrections for the offense of child seduction.

50-year-old Randall Vandeventer, was convicted of touching and fondling a 17-year-old male foreign exchange student from China, who lived with him during the 2009-10 school year while attending White River Valley Junior-Senior High School. It took the jury only 40-minutes of deliberation before they reached their verdict on August 3.

Greene Superior Court Judge Dena Martin also imposed a $100 fine and a $100 child abuse probation fee.

After his release from prison, he will be required to register as a convicted sex offender.
A Feb. 13, 2012 trial date has been set for a second, more serious case against Vandeventer.

The case, filed June 4, 2010, charges Vandeventer with two counts of child molesting, class A felonies; and four counts of child molesting, class C felonies. The case involves allegations that Vandeventer molested young children who attended the former Tiny Town Daycare in Switz City.
