(SPRINGVILLE) - The cause of a fire that destroyed a home on Hobbieville Road late Sunday night is under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Ralph and Mary Drake were not living at their home in Springville when the fire happened. They were in the process of moving and had the home up for sale.
Firefighters from four departments battled the blaze for almost four hours. Firefighters arrived at the scene at 11:32 p.m.
When firefighters arrived the house was engulfed. Firefighters say flames were visible from about 3 miles away. The home was destroyed, according to firefighters.
Firefighters from Center, Owensburg, Eastern and Van Buren in Monroe County, and Greene County Ambulance Service Emergency One was there for medical stand-by.
