Disaster Loans Available For Local Residents

Last updated on Friday, September 23, 2011

(UNDATED) - Residents and employers of Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson and Lawrence counties may apply for disaster loans if they were negatively impacted by this year’s spring storms.

Recently, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) officials - in response to a Sept. 2 letter from Gov. Mitch Daniels - made these special low-interest loans available to residents, businesses and non-profit organizations affected by severe storms, hail, tornadoes and flooding from April 19 to June 6.

These SBA loans will come as relief to those who suffered damage to their homes and businesses earlier this year. I'm appreciative of Gov. Daniels' request for a disaster declaration and happy for all of our local residents who can benefit.

Residential loans are available for damaged real estate and personal property. Employers may apply for loans to cover machinery, equipment, inventory and other assets that were negatively impacted.

Disaster loan applications may be accessed on the SBA's secure website at http://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/. Special business loan applications may also be downloaded from the SBA website at www.sba.gov.

If residents prefer to print and mail their applications, they may be sent to U.S. Small Business Administration Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.

For more information, individuals and business owners may call the SBA's Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955.
