(SPENCER) - Anyone who has low vision, is losing vision or is blind - or family members or friends of those with serious visual impairments - may want to attend the American Council of the Blind of Indiana’s 40th annual state convention Sept. 16-18 in the Canyon Inn at McCormick’s Creek State Park in Spencer.
"There will be several vendors from Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky who will demonstrate adaptive aids and devices - everything from accessible technology for people with vision impairment to the art of jewelry making.
Scheduled speakers:
Vicky Pappas, director of The Center for Planning and Policy Studies, Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, Indiana University, who will share findings on studies relating to disability issues, including the ADA Report Card for Indiana.
John Gordon, Vocational Rehabilitation Region 5 manager, who will speak on vocational rehab services and possible policy changes.
Lylas Mogk, an ophthalmologist, who will talk about vision loss and the treatment of its leading causes.
Edie Huffman, who will speak on "Investing 101," with information from the secretary of state's office.
Lou Moneymaker, president and CEO of Bosma Enterprises, who will be the banquet speaker.
