(MITCHELL, IN) - Both a police officer and a theft suspect were transported to a local hospital Saturday following a brief foot chase and a scuffle.
23-year-old Jeffrey M. Johnson of Orleans was eventually booked into the Lawrence County Jail on charges of theft, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, fleeing police on foot, resisting arrest and public intoxication.
The incident began when Officer J.D. England noticed Johnson trying to break into a vehicle near Fifth and Main streets.
When Johnson fled, a police chase ensued which resulted in the scuffle.
