(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Investigators say a few leads have dried up in the Lauren Spierer case.
Capt. Joe Qualters says the main lead, concerning a white truck seen in surveillance video was found to have nothing to do with the case.
Qualters says "That individual was extremely cooperative with law enforcement efforts, provided information as to why he was up in that area and as it turns out it was simply to pick up an employee."
Captain Qualters says a search conducted south of Martinsville on Sunday proved to be unfruitful.
Investigators acted on a tip of a suspicious odor and did find a "suspicious", fresh mound of dirt, but found nothing.
Captain Qualters also says a bag of clothing removed from Smallwood Plaza on Friday had nothing to do with the case.
However he says investigators continue to hold out hope and follow every lead.
Lauren's mother Charlene had another message for those she feels have information in the case "we all come to a crossroads in our lives.
You have a choice of which road you want to take. We all have that defining moment that's going to define who we are.
I am begging and pleading with you to take the high road and i'm pleading with you to be that person that defines yourself as the person who helped us".
Bloomington Police this week decided not to hold daily media briefings, instead holding them Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
