Lake Monroe Search Comes Up Empty

Last updated on Friday, June 10, 2011

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - One of the last few people to reportedly see an I.U. student before her disappearance last week was involved in a fight at her apartment complex the night she went missing.

The attorney for Corey Rossman claims his client was with 20-year-old Lauren Spierer at the time of the incident, but does not remember much from before or after it took place.

Bloomington Police Lt. Bill Parker would not comment on the fight during Thursday's daily news conference to update the media on the case, other than to say that Lauren was not involved.

Parker is declining to discuss if anyone is considered a suspect in the disappearance.

He says most people have been cooperating with the investigation, but police are still making appointments to speak with those that may have information about the case.

Police are also probing into "hundreds" of tips from the public, including one that led them to Lake Monroe.

That search came up empty, but the Monroe County Sheriff's Department is back at the state's largest reservoir this afternoon looking for any clues.

Officers from the Indiana State Police, Indiana University Police, FBI and us marshals are also assisting in the search.

Spierer's father, Robert, is urging landowners in the area to search their property and outbuildings.

He is offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to the return of his daughter.
