(UNDATED) - The FDA is planning to change the guidelines for sunscreen.

In addition to SPF numbers, manufacturers are going to have to tell us if the sunscreen is "broad spectrum."

I.U. Cancer Center Dr. Bill Wooden says "broad spectrum" means the sunscreen will be able to offer protection to different lights and energy.

Dr. Wooden says the guideline changes will be positive.

Wooden says the new requirement will allow consumers to see the actual protection of the sunscreen, instead of just an SPF number.
