Indiana University Closing School Of Continuing Studies

Last updated on Thursday, May 19, 2011

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana University is closing its School of Continuing Studies in June of 2012.

The university says the reason for the school closing is because of budget restrictions and to limit increases in tuition.

The closing will save the university up to $4 million. University Spokesman Larry McIntyre says the students taking classes in the school will not have to worry.

I.U.'s Bloomington Campus is facing a 5.5% decrease in state funding from 2011-2013 and has already had to cut $100 dollars in administration costs.

The School of Continuing Studies aims to give non-traditional students a variety of options to complete their degrees with evening and online courses.

I.U. is working to create more online classes and expand current ones.
