Bloomington Man Arrested For Robbing Mother Through Craigslist

Last updated on Friday, May 13, 2011

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - A Bloomington man was arrested for allegedly robbing a mother and son after swapping electronics through Craigslist.

25-year-old Jeremy Chinn was booked into Monroe County Jail Wednesday on a preliminary felony charge of robbery.

He was being held at the jail Thursday on a $5,000 surety, $500 cash bond.

A woman and her 15-year-old son reported being assaulted and robbed after trading cash and an Xbox game for Chinn's Ipod touch.

State Police Sgt. Curt Durnil says the two met with the man at his residence for the exchange.

As they were leaving, the man passed their car and forced them off the road.

When the two refused to give Chinn the Ipod, he reportedly crawled into their driver's side window, reached inside the car and forcibly took the items from the 15-year-old teen.

Chinn was arrested about two hours after the mother and son went to police.

During road rage situations, Durnil tells motorists to leave their windows up and their doors locked.

He also suggests driving away and remembering a license plate number to give to police.
