Flood Threat Closes West Baden Hotel

Last updated on Monday, April 25, 2011

(UNDATED) - Hoosiers in many areas are bracing for flooding this week.

National Weather Service Hydrologist Al Shipe says significant flooding is occurring in the southern part of the state along the East Fork of the White River.

Shipe says the worst flooding will be the Petersburg/Hazelton area, New Harmony and possibly Princeton if the forecasted amount of rainfall occurs.

A travel advisory has since been issued for Orange County; the advisory means that routine traffic may be restricted in some parts of the county.

The threat of flooding forced the West Baden Springs Hotel to shut down Sunday night.

Water is not inside the building, but it is starting to flood driveways and gardens.

Management shut the hotel down last night as a precaution and moved guests to the French Lick hotel.
