Officer Stuck By Hypodermic Needle

Last updated on Friday, April 1, 2011

(BEDFORD, IN) - A security officer at the Lawrence County Courthouse Plaza was stuck by a hypodermic needle while searching a purse on Wednesday morning.

Police say the puncture wound did not require medical treatment. 35-year-old Keri Hibner was booked into the Lawrence County Jail after officers discovered the needle, facing charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Blood testing was done on the needle to insure that it didn't contain any viruses that could have been transmitted to the officer.
