(UNDATED) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is watching Patoka and Monroe Lakes closely as the reservoirs reach record pool levels due to heavy rains.

The southern Indiana lakes are two of four in a tri-state area under flooding threats through Thursday.

Officials say the spillways will be opened wider to protect the dams and erosion issues.

Residents downstream from the spillways will see higher levels and rushing waters.
