(MARTINSVILLE, IN) - 16-year-old Michael Phelps was arrested this morning after shooting one of his classmates at West Middle School.
Chance Jackson was flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with two gunshot wounds to the stomach after Phelps allegedly came to school with a gun and the intention of shooting Jackson.
Officials say that Phelps posted on his Facebook page, "today is the day."
Earlier, Phelps had posted "don't use your mind use your nine."
The teen fled the scene following the shooting which led local, state and federal police on a manhunt for the suspect.
Chance Jackson's medical condition is unknown at this time.
