Police Believe Deaths Were Murder-Suicide

Last updated on Tuesday, January 25, 2011

(AUSTIN, IN) - State police at the Sellersburg Post believe the tragic deaths of a woman and her three children was a triple murder-suicide.

Sgt. Jerry Goodin says the finding is based on the preliminary coroner's report and evidence collected at the scene by detectives.

Officials believe 30-year-old Amanda Bennett shot her children: 14-year-old jasmine Abbott, 9-year-old Katelynn Bennett, and 4-year-old Ryan Bennett.

Police allege the woman then set the house on fire before turning the gun on herself.
