Officer Not To Spend Time Behind Bars Following Misconduct Suit

Last updated on Thursday, January 13, 2011

(COLUMBUS, IN) - A former Columbus Police Officer who pleaded guilty to misconduct will not spend any time behind bars.

Matthew Stephenson pleaded guilty in November.

However, as part of an agreement, two other charges including conspiracy to deal cocaine were dropped.

Officials say Stephenson filed a false report linking drugs found at the Bartholomew County Jail to the wrong inmate.
