Bedford Man To Be Sentenced For Murder

Last updated on Friday, December 17, 2010

(BEDFORD, IN) - A Bedford man could face 45 to 65 years in prison for the murder of 57-year-old Diana Tabor.

21-year-old Jeremiah Hancock will be sentenced for the crime on March 24th.

A death investigation began when the body of Tabor was found inside her home on J Street; dead from an apparent stabbing.

Court documents indicate Tabor was Hancock's aunt and had confronted him about stealing her debit card.

Hancock and his girlfriend at the time, 21-year-old Ashley Brown went to the woman's home to keep her from reporting the theft to police.

Hancock informed Brown of his intentions to kill his aunt before the two arrived at the house.

After the two doused Tabor's body with flammable substances, they began searching the home for items to steal.

Hancock and Brown were arrested in November of 2008; Brown was sentenced to eight years in prison for the crime.
