Postal Service: Faster To Print Postage Online This Holiday Season

Last updated on Friday, November 26, 2010

(UNDATED) - Looking to shorten the lines at the post offices and make it easier for you to get packages shipped for the holiday season, the U.S. Postal Service is urging home computer users to visit usps.com.

The website allows customers to order supplies and print postage. You'll also find guidelines for mailing and filling out required customs forms. And if you're shipping to a domestic destination, you can request free package pickup.

"If it's international, you will have to take it to the post office," says Kim Yates, U.S. Postal service spokesperson in Indianapolis. But for domestic mailing, you can handle the entire transaction from home.

But don't wait too long to get started, especially if you're sending a package to military personnel in Iraq or Afghanistan. To guarantee an on-time delivery, you should have that package in the mail by December 4th.
