Officer's Employment Reinstated In Mitchell

Last updated on Tuesday, November 2, 2010

(MITCHELL, IN) - Mitchell Police Officer Steve Blair’s employment with the city as a police officer will be reinstated to the police force.

Special Judge E. Michael Hoff ordered that the city of Mitchell will reinstate Blair and provide him with back pay from April 28th.

The judged ruled that the Mitchell Board of Works and Public Safety did not have the jurisdiction to discipline the officer.

The firing occurred when city officials were informed of a conversation that Blair had secretly recorded between himself, Mitchell Mayor Dan Terrell and the Mitchell Police Department's Chief Dispatcher at the time Reeta Hackler.
