(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Six Bloomington apartments were evacuated over the weekend after a footlocker full of World War II hand grenades was discovered in the basement of the apartment.
The man who discovered the items underneath the Yorktown Courts Apartment Complex says he was cleaning his deceased mother's apartment and contacted authorities to be on the safe side.
As a precaution, Bloomington police contacted an explosives expert from Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center.
The items were transported to Crane for disposal.
