Teen Ramps Railroad Tracks, Crashes Into Tree

(LINTON, IN) - An 18-year-old woman suffered injuries when her vehicle sped across a pair of railroad tracks, flying through the air and into a tree.

Katelyn Jo Garrett was transported to Greene County General Hospital with injuries to her shoulder and arm.

Witnesses at the scene say that Garrett was driving as fast as 50mph in the 30mph zone.

Garrett's vehicle disregarded a stop sign and hit the railroad tracks without slowing down, becoming airborne over the tracks.

Contributing circumstances that led to the crash listed on the police report include alcohol, unsafe speed, disregarding a stop-sign, running off the road and over-correcting.
