State Police Urge Motorists To Be Cautious Of Deer

Last updated on Tuesday, October 5, 2010

(UNDATED) - Indiana State Police are reminding motorists of the many car wrecks that occur this time of year as deer migrate from fields to the roadways.

Harvest season has started earlier than normal in Indiana this year, causing deer to move from field to field.

In 2009 in Indiana, there were 16,225 vehicle-deer crashes and many motorists can be severely injured or even killed.

State Police advise motorists to use high beam headlights at night when possible and pay close attention to the sides of the road to look for reflections from the deer's eyes.
