Holiday Spending Expected To Increase

Last updated on Friday, October 29, 2010

(UNDATED) - Holiday spending is expected to be up from last year but still rather conservative.

Ball State Economist Michael Hicks says the spending won't be as high as 2007, but will be better compared to the last two years.

Hicks says retail sales between Thanksgiving and New Year's accounts for about 25% of a retailer's annual revenue.

Hicks says holiday spending is also a good barometer of public sentiment of the current economic climate and the job market.
