66 Indiana Counties Under Burn Bans

Last updated on Wednesday, October 6, 2010

(UNDATED) - The Indiana Department of Homeland Security says 66 Indiana counties are now under a burn ban because of the extremely dry conditions.

97 fires have been reported over the last few weeks.

Damage estimates are reported to be in the millions. In these dry conditions, fires can ignite and spread very quickly.

Hoosiers are asked to take caution when handling anything that produces heat or could produce a spark.
