Suspected Bank Robber Dies In Police Chase

(HARDINSBURG, IN) - A man involved in a bank robbery in Jackson County died from a gunshot wound to the head Saturday morning.

42-year-old Dwight Jernigan died of a single gunshot wound to the head following a police chase.

Investigators say Jernigan walked into the First Harrison Bank in Hardinsburg and demanded money; the suspect then fled the scene by vehicle.

Officers later caught up with Jernigan in a nearby driveway when gunfire was heard coming from inside the vehicle.
