Month Of August Listed As Driest To Date

Last updated on Wednesday, September 1, 2010

(UNDATED) - August 2010 will go in the record books as the driest August to date.

Meteorologist Jim O'Brien says Indiana only recorded about a third of an inch of rain the entire month.

That beats the record set in 1897 of .42 inches of rain for the entire month.

O'Brien says farmers are mixed as to the effects in their fields.

Soybean farmers aren't happy with the lack of rainfall, but others say the dry weather has given them an opportunity to work in the fields.
