(CRANE, IN) - Hundreds of employees at Indiana's Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center have been warned to be on the lookout for a mountain lion, or possibly a cougar, spotted by four people near the base since August 5th.

According to a news release from Steve Andrews, Crane's natural resources manager, the reports have been sent along to the state Department of Natural Resources' mountain lion sighting database.

In May, DNR officials confirmed the presence of a cougar in Greene County.

DNR has released the following tips if you ever encounter such an animal.
- Do not approach; give the cat a way to escape.
- Do not run away. Stand and face the animal and make eye contact.
- Do all you can to appear larger; spread your arms wide, open your jacket or shirt.
- Wave your arms slowly and speak in a loud, firm voice.
- If attacked, fight back with large sticks or stones.
