Couple Dicsover Intruder In Their Car

(BEDFORD, IN) - A Lawrence County couple awoke early this morning to discover someone inside their unlocked vehicle.

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig says that the man of the house went outside and caught the intruder, while his wife ran inside to call police.

18-year-old Michael D. Covey was arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Security Center.

Craig says that Covey has been charged with theft, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, intimidation, battery and public intoxication.

This incident remains under investigation at this time and it is unknown at this time if Covey has any involvement in several other car break-ins Bedford and Lawrence County.

Covey had previously been arrested in 2006 at the age of 16 for breaking into several vehicles.
