Last updated on Friday, July 23, 2010

(BEDFORD, IN) - More details are emerging about yesterday’s car wreck involving a pickup truck and a member of the Bedford North Lawrence Cross Country Team.

Police say that Chad M. Reynolds was traveling on U.S. 50 when he believes and fell asleep while driving which ultimately caused Reynolds to strike 16-year-old Joel Clampitt.

Clampitt was taken by helicopter to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville.

Joel's mother says that he has two big cuts on his head and is very sore but, overall very alert and talkative.

The group of six runners were running on U.S. 50 as they do every Tuesday and Thursday morning when the incident occurred.

The results of an alcohol test given to Chad Reynolds are pending.
