Youth Survey Shows Indiana Teens Are More Proned To Suicidal Thoughts

(UNDATED) - The results of a confidential survey among Hoosier high school students are in.

The 2009 Youth Risk Behavior Survey asks students in grades 9-12 about subjects including sex, alcohol, drugs and tobacco use.

It also requests information about their weight and level of physical activity.

Indiana State Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Gregory Larkin suggests one of the most troubling findings is that Indiana youth teens more likely than youth from other states to attempt suicide at 9.3%.

The national average is 6.3%.
