(BEDFORD, IN) - A Bedford man was rescued from the flooded White River during a round of thunderstorms Monday evening.

According to the Department of Natural Resources, 30-year-old Jeremiah Bowman took refuge atop his truck after attempting to drive through flooded roadways near the Shieldstown Bridge.

Conservation officers say that when they arrived at the scene, they saw Bowman on the roof of his truck with water over the doors of the vehicle.

Bowman had reportedly been in the floodwater for more than an hour.
