(BEDFORD, IN) - Police were informed of a possible armed robbery at the Bedford Wal-Mart Monday morning.

According to a press release issued from the Bedford Police Department, officers were called to the store at around 7:00AM after 52-year-old Joseph Kirkman displayed a knife to store employees in an attempt to get money from a service area cash register.

Kirkman wasn't able to obtain any money from the store and instead fled the scene.

Using descriptions given from employees and witnesses, as well as the store's video surveillance, police were able to locate Kirkman in Orange County.

Kirkman was booked into the Lawrence County Jail for attempted armed robbery.

Police say that the safe capture of the man is due to "well-trained Wal-Mart Employees and the store's state-of-the-art surveillance system."
